Gurugram and Mumbai are the front runners for retail spaces.
On February 19th, Google inaugurated the ‘Ananta’ campus in Bengaluru, one of its largest globally. Located in Mahadevapura, Ananta spans over 1.6 million square feet and can accommodate more than 5,000 staff.
It hosts a central gathering space called ‘Sabha’, tactile flooring for ease of navigation for the visually impaired, eco-friendly architecture with one of India’s largest installations of electrochromic glass, a sculpted fluid façade for architectural interest, and complete wastewater recycling.
Ananta is constructed like a mini city with an elaborate street network for easy navigation, landscaped gardens, jogging routes, a gym, and compact neighbourhoods.
Google is also about to finalise the locations for its retail stores in India, the only ones outside the US where it operates five outlets. Mirroring Apple, it aims to sell Pixel phones, earbuds, and smartwatches in these stores.
The stores may span 15,000 square feet and take at least six months to inaugurate.
