The e-commerce giant launched Amazon Pharmacy in 2020, teleconsultation in 2024, and diagnostics in 2025.
In June 2025, Amazon pumped ₹100 crore via Smbhav Venture Fund into Orange Health to launch its diagnostic services. It offers home sample collection within 60 minutes and test results within 6 hours.
These services are available across six major metropolitan cities: Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Kolkata.
Its pharmacy business covers all serviceable PIN codes in 23 cities. In November 2024, it launched teleconsultation for ₹99.
For its online pharmacy, Amazon faces stiff competition from existing players like Tata 1mg and Apollo, which have a strong foothold, local pharmacies that often sell without prescriptions, and a strong trade lobby opposing the growth of e-pharmacies.
Amazon intends to enrich customer data to create a personalised wellness ecosystem in India, and healthcare retail is an integral part of the strategy. It also offers health foods and supplements via FreshtoHome and insurance products via Amazon Pay.
