- Boeing delivery snag delays Akasa and Air India’s expansion plans | Salestors.com
< Back Boeing delivery snag delays Akasa and Air India’s expansion plans 7 Nov 2025 Akasa had planned to cross the 40 mark this year, but remains stuck at 30. Delays in seat certification by the US FAA are impacting the expansion plans of Akasa and Air India. Akasa uses Safran seats while Air India deploys Adient. FAA became cautious after the Boeing MAX crashes this year and the following scrutiny. Akasa overhired in the past two years, and now has 750 pilots, over half of whom are unable to fly due to the absence of aircraft. Its CEO mentioned all their pilots will begin flying in the next two months, Reuters reported. IndiGo sidestepped these delays by using Recaro seats and Airbus aircraft. Indian aviation regulations do not mandate the Head Injury Criterion (HIC), unlike the FAA and EASA (Europe). Akasa still hopes to have 40 aircraft in its fleet by March 2026 and around 54 by March 2027. It plans to go public through an IPO in the next 2-5 years and restart hiring pilots in 2026. - Pax numbers drop as airlines add more flights | Salestors.com
< Back Pax numbers drop as airlines add more flights 9 Oct 2025 In July-August 2025, passenger numbers decreased by 2% compared to the same period last year, from 26.1 million to 25.6 million. During the festive season, Indians are choosing iPhones and cars over travel. The Trump Administration’s new visa rules have impacted the travel of Indian tech employees. Due to fear, many Indians who travel back home for Diwali never took the flight this year. US tariffs are impacting small businesses that contribute to air travel, ET reported. Besides, US, Canadian, and European visas are challenging to obtain, which leaves only South Asia as an option for Indians. Countries with easy and on-arrival visas are experiencing full flights. Following the DGCA directive to add capacity and prevent rate hikes, Air India, IndiGo, and SpiceJet added more than 1,700 flights. This year, however, flights aren’t sold out; hotels are. Air India Express rolled out a festive offer allowing Indian expats travelling across the Gulf to carry an extra 10 kg of baggage for just one dirham (Dh1). The offer is valid for bookings made until October 31 st . Check out my new book, THE BLACK FLAMES , on Amazon Kindle. - US Department of Justice sues Apple for monopolising market | Salestors.com
< Back US Department of Justice sues Apple for monopolising market 22 Mar 2024 The Department of Justice (DOJ) and 15 states sued the phone maker for creating a monopoly in the US smartphone market. The DOJ accused Apple of charging heavily, making more profit than any other smartphone maker, raising prices, and hurting smaller businesses. It levies fees on business partners like software developers and credit card companies in a masked manner to hike its own profits. With this antitrust lawsuit, Apple joined the tech giants, like Google, Meta, and Amazon, who faced similar battles. Apple charges its users a premium for technology products and controls how they work with its devices. It has also been charged with blocking or controlling competing technologies, like super apps, messaging apps, digital wallets, smartwatches, and some cloud-streaming gaming apps. The DOJ aims to force the company to give users more freedom in choosing how apps work with Apple devices. The recently introduced Digital Markets Act in Europe deeply affected the Apple App Store. The Act forces Apple to allow access to third-party app stores on its devices. Previous Next
- Pakistan losing above $760k daily due to airspace closure | Salestors.com
< Back Pakistan losing above $760k daily due to airspace closure 28 Apr 2025 In 2019, Pakistan closed its airspace for Indian carriers after the Pulwama attack, which cost it USD 760,000 daily. Airlines pay an overflight fee to countries for using their airspace. A Boeing 737 crossing Pakistani airspace pays USD 580 in overflight fees; larger aircraft pay more. Today, around 350 international flights cross its airspace daily. Overflight charges comprise around 20% of their annual civil aviation revenue. After the Pulwama attack, closing its airspace cost the Pakistani Civil Aviation Authority and Pakistan International Airlines around USD100 million in a few months. This included USD232,000 lost in daily overflight revenue. Its total aviation revenue is expected to be over USD6 billion by 2029, compared to India’s estimated USD30 billion aviation revenue in 2025. 60% of the annual revenue comes from the east-to-west air corridor spanning 10,000 km, which connects Asia with the Middle East and Europe. Closing the airspace is causing Pakistan heavy daily losses and operational delays, as well as longer flights and raised prices for Indian carriers. Never miss another post from SalestorrsNews150.
