< Back Royal Enfield EV to launch in the first quarter of 2026 3 Jun 2025 The electric bike has been showcased many times, even at EICMA, the world’s biggest motorcycle trade show held every year in Milan. Flying Flea C6, Royal Enfield’s new EV, was set up for an exclusive event at Officine del Volo, Milan, where a select few influencers and media got a private preview. This built anticipation before the bike’s public debut at EICMA. The Flying Flea C6 is positioned as a retro-futuristic electric bike, less than 110 kg, with a forged aluminium frame, a round touchscreen display, a Snapdragon processor to enable over-the-air updates, and customisable ride modes. Royal Enfield began developing it two years ago as a part of its Rebalance strategy, to balance electric and fossil-fuel-based products. Flying Flea was originally a 59 kg WWII motorcycle, designed to be air-dropped via parachute to help the British army cross enemy lines and fight Nazis during the Normandy landings in 1940. < Back Delayed sweeping, greening add to NCR pollution 20 Nov 2024 In the absence of appropriate greening of pavements and road cleaning, dust adds to the pollution from stubble burning. Besides stubble burning, several geographical and meteorological factors contribute to NCR’s pollution season. Preventing these is possible only by preponing the paddy harvest season as done before 2009. To conserve groundwater by delaying paddy harvest, the Punjab and Haryana Preservation of Subsoil Water Act, 2009, postponed the harvest season to October-November from June-October. With this change, the sowing season aligned with the monsoons, thus helping save water but triggering stubble burning in the absence of rains. Towards dust control, by July, 85 Mechanical Road Sweeping Machines (MRSMs) were deployed in Delhi against the target of 206 for 2024. UP, Haryana, and Rajasthan received most of their targeted MRSMs. By July end, 199 km of centre verges remained ungreened and 278 km of roadsides left unpaved. Road dust contributes 40% of PM10 and 20% of PM2.5. EV charging infrastructure targets remained unachieved, with 3,100 stations ready against a target of 4,793. Previous Next

Mayonnaise made from raw eggs contains egg yolk, vinegar, vegetable oil, and seasonings. Tamil Nadu has become the third state to ban the production, storage, distribution, and sale of mayonnaise for a year, effective April 8, 2025. Tamil Nadu’s Food Safety and Drug Administration has termed it a ‘high risk’ food due to its potential to cause food poisoning from Salmonella bacteria (Salmonella typhimurium, Salmonella enteritidis, Escherichia Coli, and Listeria monocytogenes). Food poisoning symptoms would include diarrhoea, abdominal cramps, and fever. These bacteria thrive in warmer temperatures, so mayonnaise can pose higher safety risks when improperly cooked or stored. Vegan and pasteurised egg mayonnaise undergo heat treatment that kills the harmful bacteria. Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana have introduced street food hygiene standards and imposed limits on synthetic food colours in sweets and beverages. Amid escalating war and stocks crash, we urge international partners to help de-escalate. Nation urged to remain steadfast.” It tagged the World Bank in the post. The US stepped in seeking an immediate de-escalation. The entire 27 states of the European Union unequivocally condemned the Pahalgam attack, and UK MPs backed India’s Operation Sindoor. France’s foreign minister and Israel’s ambassador to India supported India’s right to defend itself. She became the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) President in 1996-97 and completed LLB from Meerut in 2022. A three-time councillor, she developed Delhi’s first women’s park, Sita Vatika, and introduced battery-operated garbage trucks, a sexual harassment helpline, and underground parking. As Chairperson of the Women Welfare and Child Development Committee in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), Rekha Gupta launched Sumedha Yojana to offer financial assistance to economically challenged female students. BJP chose her as the MCD mayoral candidate in 2022 against AAP’s Shelly Oberoi. Rekha’s nomination continues the female candidacy for Delhi’s CM position, contrasting Kejriwal’s 10 years. < Back Akasa Air begins allowing pets up to 10 kg in the cabin 9 May 2024 In November 2022, the airline first announced permitting passengers to carry their pets, like cats and dogs, in cabin or cargo as per their weight. Akasa Air announced on Wednesday its plans to permit passengers to carry their pets weighing up to 10 kg, including the weight of the container, in the cabin. The limit was 7 kg earlier. They also allow pets weighing up to 32 kg with the container in cargo. The decision is based on customer feedback. Besides this, Akasa Air is also implementing a new travel certificate policy, which allows pets’ travel certificates to stay valid for 15 days instead of three. This will facilitate customers booking a shorter return journey within 15 days, while customers travelling beyond 15 days will need a new travel certificate. Since its launch in November 2022, Akasa Air has carried over 3,200 pets. In addition to Akasa, Air India allows pets in the cabin, while Spicejet allows them only in cargo. < Back Reliance Retail begins superfast deliveries within an hour 26 Jun 2024 The company has started a pilot program to offer quick deliveries of groceries and FMCG products in some parts of Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. Reliance Retail launched a pilot program via its Jiomart mobile app, offering hyperlocal delivery in some parts of Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. With the addition of more stores and expansion into other markets, it will reduce the delivery time to 30-45 minutes. However, Reliance Retail will fulfil the quick delivery demand from its stores and warehouses. In areas without its own stores, Reliance will utilise the Kirana stores associated with the Jiomart Partner Initiative. These Kirana stores are connected to Reliance Retail’s backend and source products from its wholesale arms. Reliance is using tech solutions like FYND and Locus to optimise fulfilment and delivery routes. Currently, Reliance Retail delivers goods in between twelve hours and up to three days. Earlier, JioMart catered to online orders via WhatsApp in partnership with Meta Inc, launched in 2020. It started offering quick delivery via JioMart Express in 2021 and shut it down in early 2023. Epic Games a également intente un procès à Apple en 2020, mais a perdu l’affaire lorsque la cour d’appel a statué qu’Apple n’avait pas de monopole sur les jeux mobiles. Google soutient que cela rendra les tâches difficiles pour les développeurs. D’autre part, l’entreprise technologique fait face a d’autres accusations. Beauty products like kajal pens, foundation creams, and daily skincare are among the top-selling and fastest-growing segments on q-commerce apps. Bengaluru-based online meat shop Licious started with one-to-two-hour deliveries and reduced them to 15-30-minute supplies in Gurugram. It often delivers ahead of time and is looking to reduce it further depending on order density. Flipkart launched Minutes service in NCR, Bengaluru, and Mumbai, and Amazon is set to introduce a similar offering. Swiggy started a 10-minute food delivery service called Bolt last week, motivating Zomato to bring back its 10-minute service from quick-service restaurants and cafes. In a market driven by the youth, Netflix applied the strategy of displaying alluring content like Kota Factory or Laapataa Ladies. Heeramandi became its highest-watched series in the June quarter with 15 million views, while Chamkila secured the second position with 8.3 million views. These two contributed to Netflix's revenue spike to $9.6 billion in the June quarter, an almost 17% growth compared to last year. Netflix launched a ₹149 mobile-only, ad-free plan in India compared to a similar $6.99 mobile plan in the US supported by ads. In 2023, it raised prices across the UK, US, and France, except India, where it enjoys higher volumes instead of heavier rates. It also tied up with Jio who rolled out prepaid mobile plans and Jio AirFiber and JioFiber plans with a Netflix subscription.
