  • After Ananta in Bengaluru, Google to open retail stores in India | Salestors.com

< Back After Ananta in Bengaluru, Google to open retail stores in India 25 Feb 2025 Gurugram and Mumbai are the front runners for retail spaces. On February 19th, Google inaugurated the ‘Ananta’ campus in Bengaluru, one of its largest globally. Located in Mahadevapura, Ananta spans over 1.6 million square feet and can accommodate more than 5,000 staff. It hosts a central gathering space called ‘Sabha’, tactile flooring for ease of navigation for the visually impaired, eco-friendly architecture with one of India’s largest installations of electrochromic glass, a sculpted fluid façade for architectural interest, and complete wastewater recycling. Ananta is constructed like a mini city with an elaborate street network for easy navigation, landscaped gardens, jogging routes, a gym, and compact neighbourhoods. Google is also about to finalise the locations for its retail stores in India, the only ones outside the US where it operates five outlets. Mirroring Apple, it aims to sell Pixel phones, earbuds, and smartwatches in these stores. The stores may span 15,000 square feet and take at least six months to inaugurate. • What made Meesho the most downloaded shopping app globally? | Salestors.com

< Back What made Meesho the most downloaded shopping app globally? Ishita Nigam 23 Aug 2023 Meesho, backed by Meta, surpassed amazon and Flipkart as the fastest growing app with 500 million downloads in 2022. Meesho, launched in 2015, has defied the eCommerce norms to become the most downloaded shopping app in the world. Unlike amazon and Flipkart, that aim at the top 5% buyers of home appliances and smartphones, Meesho focuses on unbranded items like jeans, kurtas, gadgets, and footwear for the non-metro, small town audience. It offers branded products too, like boAt, Paragon, Zebronics, Decathlon, and Portronics in its app-in-app 'Meesho Mall'. What sets it apart from competitors is that it permits users to resell their purchased items to family and friends by posting product listings on WhatsApp. Moreover, its zero commission model allows sellers to offer their products at much cheaper prices. But that's not it. To strengthen its reach in small towns, it reduced the size of its app to 13.6 MB so it can be easily downloaded and installed in areas with limited internet connectivity. It reached 500 million downloads in 2022, surpassing Amazon and Flipkart. Previous Next

  • Time for the rebirth of the Russia-India-China Trilateral? | Salestors.com

< Back Time for the rebirth of the Russia-India-China Trilateral? 7 Aug 2025 New pacts with Russia, recalibration with China, BRICS relations move up on India’s list of priorities. W.e.f. August 27 th , the new tariff rates for sectors would be: - Gems and jewellery ($12 billion) – 52.1% - Textiles and clothing ($10.3 billion) – 59% - Electrical components and machinery (~$9 billion) – 51.3% - Chemicals ($2.34 billion) – 54% - Shrimp ($2.24 billion) – 33.26% - Leather and footwear ($1.18 billion) – 50% - Carpets ($1.2 billion) – 52.9% India is now at the top of the tariff chart with Brazil. India’s yearly merchandise exports are $425 billion, 10% of the nation’s GDP. Unlike China, it is not an export-led economy. Experts say the time is ripe to revive the Russia-India-China (RIC) trilateral. Conceptualised by Russia in the late 1990s, RIC was designed to counter Western dominance and promote cooperation among Eurasia’s largest powers. RIC’s last virtual foreign ministers’ meeting in 2020 was stalled due to the pandemic and Indo-China border tensions. Russia and China are pushing to revive the RIC to counter Trump’s tariff war and Western pressure. Despite acknowledging its value, India remains wary of RIC due to unresolved issues with China. While RIC revival could fuel India’s prowess in the global economy, the nation also wants to balance trade relations with the West. Never miss another post from SalestorsNews150. • Delayed sweeping, greening add to NCR pollution | Salestors.com

< Back Delayed sweeping, greening add to NCR pollution 20 Nov 2024 In the absence of appropriate greening of pavements and road cleaning, dust adds to the pollution from stubble burning. Besides stubble burning, several geographical and meteorological factors contribute to NCR’s pollution season. Preventing these is possible only by preponing the paddy harvest season as done before 2009. To conserve groundwater by delaying paddy harvest, the Punjab and Haryana Preservation of Subsoil Water Act, 2009, postponed the harvest season to October-November from June-October. With this change, the sowing season aligned with the monsoons, thus helping save water but triggering stubble burning in the absence of rains. Towards dust control, by July, 85 Mechanical Road Sweeping Machines (MRSMs) were deployed in Delhi against the target of 206 for 2024. UP, Haryana, and Rajasthan received most of their targeted MRSMs. By July end, 199 km of centre verges remained ungreened and 278 km of roadsides left unpaved. Road dust contributes 40% of PM10 and 20% of PM2.5. EV charging infrastructure targets remained unachieved, with 3,100 stations ready against a target of 4,793. Previous Next

  • India to start locally manufacturing all mobile phones in this fiscal year | Salestors.com

< Back India to start locally manufacturing all mobile phones in this fiscal year 10 Oct 2024 Apple started making iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max phones in India last week. Google began manufacturing Pixel smartphones. Until the last fiscal year FY24, India’s smartphone imports comprised 2.5% of the mobiles sold by value and less than 1% by volume, especially Pro models of high-end phones, like Pixel and iPhone. With smartphone-oriented production-linked schemes (PLI), brands found new motivation to make their devices in India. Local manufacturing is further expected to reduce the iPhone Pro's price by ₹15,000 per unit. India now produces 99% of all smartphones locally. The domestic suppliers will soon cover the remaining 1%. Foreign brands like Samsung, Vivo, Oppo, Realme, Xiaomi, and Transsion Holdings now produce all devices here. Local smartphone manufacturing has risen from ₹18,900 crore in FY15 to ₹410,000 crore in FY25, around 30% of which is for exports. In the FY25 budget, the Indian government reduced import customs duty to curb the high-end mobile grey market. This motivated Apple to reduce iPhone prices by up to 4%. Previous Next

  • Privacy, efficacy concerns haunt One Nation, One Student ID (APAAR) | Salestors.com

< Back Privacy, efficacy concerns haunt One Nation, One Student ID (APAAR) 4 Feb 2025 APAAR (Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry) is a unique 12-digit ID given to students to store and manage their academic records. The Education Ministry oversees the APAAR ID scheme, launched in October. It is a student’s permanent digital ID, integrated with the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) scheme, to store academic records and make them readily available across PAN-India institutions. Creating a minor’s APAAR ID requires parental consent. The Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act mandates verifying that the individual identifying as the parent is an adult. It is done by voluntarily providing identity and age details using virtual tokens issued by the central or state government and available via Digilocker. Privacy concerns surround how parental consent is obtained and the security of student records. While creating an APAAR ID is voluntary, parents feel forced to comply by institutions. Earlier, teachers used their own mobile numbers to meet deadlines for students’ Aadhaar enrolment. Now, linking them with students’ APAAR IDs, or convincing sceptical parents to share OTPs is a challenge. Never miss another post from SalestorrsNews150. • National security concerns clause may fail to help Çelebi | Salestors.com

< Back National security concerns clause may fail to help Çelebi 26 May 2025 DIAL-Çelebi Hava Servisi signed the concession agreement on August 24th, 2009. Çelebi hired top lawyer Mukul Rohatgi and moved the Delhi High Court against revoking its security clearance. However, the concession agreement with GMR’s Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) states that “DIAL may terminate the contract immediately on grounds of national security or following orders from relevant authorities”, ET reported. Relevant authorities include the Indian Government, the authorities appointed publicly, and AAI. It also states that “if the concession ends on national security grounds, the Concessionaire may remove its equipment at its own cost, with no further payments required from DIAL.” The agreement mandates that all disputes be resolved under Indian Law and only in Delhi courts. GMR battled a similar dispute in 2012 when the Maldives government abruptly terminated their airport project because President Mohamed Waheed supported China. GMR won $270 million in damages. GMR built Istanbul’s Sabiha Gökçen Airport in 2009 and exited the airport in 2013. Never miss another post from SalestorrsNews150.
