• Why WeWork India is profitable when global biz went bankrupt? | Salestors.com

< Back Why WeWork India is profitable when global biz went bankrupt? 23 Nov 2023 WeWork Global filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the US, which allows its business to reorganize under a corporation or a partnership to pay its dues over time. WeWork Global filed for bankruptcy in the US while its Indian arm reported a revenue of ₹400 crore in Q1 FY2024, 40% higher over the same period last year. The Indian arm followed the real estate business model, while its American parent portrayed itself as a tech brand with around five times higher valuations. As a tech business, WeWork Global had to open spaces where they couldn’t generate enough revenue. There were few buyers for their ₹8,000 per seat price tag. Meanwhile, WeWork India partnered with Begaluru-based Embassy Group, which owns almost 25% of its workspaces and 73% of WeWork India. Embassy, in turn, tied up with Prestige and DLF Groups to expand in North India. WeWork India approached brands that could afford its premium prices instead of freelancers, bootstrapped startups, and small businesses. Moreover, it only stuck to metro cities, unlike WeWork Global, which failed in American tier 2 and 3 cities. Previous Next

  • EU approves Mars’ acquisition of Pringles-maker Kellanova | Salestors.com

< Back EU approves Mars’ acquisition of Pringles-maker Kellanova 10 Dec 2025 The $35.9 billion deal has been ‘unconditionally approved’ by the European Commission. Earlier this year, Brussels raised concerns about the deal that would bring Pringles and Snickers under a single umbrella brand. The preliminary concern was that consumers would have to pay higher prices and that the deal would give Mars more bargaining power over retailers in the EU. The European Commission rejected the latter concerns, arguing that their products have a longer shelf life and are subject to infrequent purchases. Further, it added that consumers were not loyal to one particular brand and there was no evidence to suggest they would switch brands if one were unavailable in retail outlets. The deal was under scrutiny in the US and the EU. The competition regulators in the US approved it, and finally, the EU did too on December 8 th . Kellanova owns Pringles, Pop-Tarts, Rice Krispies, and Kellogg’s. They will join Mars’ portfolio, which includes Twix, Skittles, and Snickers. Check out my new book, THE BLACK FLAMES , on Amazon Kindle. A gripping, high-stakes mystery. ⭐⭐⭐⭐.6 stars on Amazon ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ on Goodreads Previous Next

• Jio, Airtel and Vi increase mobile tariffs from this week | Salestors.com

< Back Jio, Airtel and Vi increase mobile tariffs from this week 1 Jul 2024 Jio and Airtel announced tariff hikes effective from July 3rd, while Vi will raise them from July 4th to improve their Average Revenue Per User (ARPU). After two and a half years, Jio announced a 12-25% increase in all prepaid and postpaid mobile tariff plans from July 3rd. There will be no change in data allowance, calling minutes, or complementary OTT subscription. Airtel will raise its tariff by 11-21% and Vi by 11-24% on all prepaid and postpaid plans. Prepaid users can recharge before July 3rd to save money, although postpaid users will see hikes in their subsequent billing cycles. The move comes after much lobbying and efforts by telecom players to raise tariffs to stay afloat. Jio and Airtel need to improve their returns after they paid hefty amounts for 5G bandwidth in 2022, while Vi needs to fuel its ₹23,000 crore equity fundraising efforts and boost a bleeding balance sheet. Airtel and Jio are making profits, while Vi is not. The tariff hikes are expected to improve the ARPU by 13-17% for these telecoms. Previous Next

  • Apple records highest-ever sales in India in the March 2024 quarter | Salestors.com

< Back Apple records highest-ever sales in India in the March 2024 quarter 7 May 2024 Its two company-owned outlets in India generated revenue of up to ₹210 crore each in FY2024, becoming Apple’s top-performing retail outlets worldwide. Driven by increasing sales of Pro models, Apple recorded approximately $2 billion in sales in the quarter ending March 2024. It had recorded roughly $6 billion in sales in FY2023. Globally, Apple recorded $90.75 billion in revenue in the quarter ending March 2024, compared to $94.8 billion in the same period in FY2023. Its iPhone sales dropped by 8% annually, mainly due to a decline in sales in the Greater China region, which includes Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Singapore, as well as tough competition from Huawei. However, Apple set a half-yearly revenue record in India and more emerging markets like Latin America, the Phillippines, Turkey, the Middle East, and Indonesia. One of the main factors contributing to its revenue growth in India is operational expansion and local manufacturing. Apple India generates almost 95% of its revenue from product sales and the rest from maintenance and services. Previous Next
