Isha and Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Retail struck a licensing deal with the Chinese fashion app Shein. Reliance will pay a licensing fee to use Shein’s brand name and offer its products on a dedicated app. The Indian manufacturers will supply local products under Shein’s brand name. Reliance offers international brands on its homegrown Ajio app. The deal allows Reliance to retain complete control over the platform and operations while Shein can act only as a technology partner. All customer data will be locally stored in India, and Shein will not have access to it. Shein will undergo regular security audits by government-certified cybersecurity firms. Shein is now available in Google and Apple Play Stores. They started deliveries in Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai, and Bengaluru. PAN India shipping will begin soon. < Back C-295 military aircraft manufacturing plant inaugurated in Gujarat 30 Oct 2024 It is India’s first private military aircraft manufacturing facility, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez. India’s first military aircraft manufacturing facility, inaugurated in Vadodara, Gujarat, should be operational by next month. The first C-295 aircraft is expected to launch in September 2026. India signed the ₹21,935 crore deal with Airbus Defence and Space SA, Spain, to procure 56 C-295 replacing the Indian Air Force’s ageing Avro-748 aircraft. According to the agreement, Airbus will deliver 16 fully assembled aircraft from Spain, while Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) will make the remaining 40 in India. Airbus will also provide TASL with the needed manufacturing technology, component assemblies, and other tools. Indigenous systems, like radar warning receivers and missile approach warning systems, will be created and supplied by Bharat Electronics Limited and Bharat Dynamics Limited. Facilities for Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) will also be set up to position India as a domestic and international regional servicing hub. < Back Twitter CEO Dorsey launches messaging app Bitchat 10 Jul 2025 It is a decentralised, peer-to-peer communication app that operates exclusively on Bluetooth mesh networks, without the need for the internet. Twitter Founder Jack Dorsey’s latest product, Bitchat, is in the beta testing phase currently, with a live version available on TestFlight. The app does not need central servers, mobile numbers, email IDs or personal account creation to function. It facilitates encrypted messaging between nearby devices that form local Bluetooth clusters when users move around physically. These clusters direct the flow of messages between devices, enabling communication with users beyond a specific physical range, without relying on Wi-Fi or cellular service. ‘Bridge’ devices can connect overlapping clusters and expand the Bluetooth mesh over larger distances. Messages are relayed across devices, thus crossing a normal Bluetooth range. Messages are stored on devices and are deleted by default, without being sent to a central server, thus ensuring privacy. Users can create password-protected group chats, called Rooms, named using hashtags. Dorsey plans to add WiFi Direct for faster messaging in a future update. < Back Airbus unveils world’s first hydrogen-powered aircraft. 9 Apr 2025 ZeroE uses hydrogen as primary fuel, which emits only water vapour on combustion. Airbus revealed the world’s first hydrogen-powered aircraft model, ZeroE, during the Airbus 2025 Summit in March in France. ZeroE will have an electric propeller propulsion system running on hydrogen fuel cells that convert hydrogen into electricity. It will feature multi-barrier isolator cabinets for safe hydrogen storage during flight, which demands ultra-low temperatures. ZeroE hydrogen fuel program was announced in 2020 with three concepts, including a Blended Wing Body (BWB) aircraft with a capacity for 200 passengers. In 2022, Airbus changed its plans from BWB to a modified A380, which was recently scrapped due to slower technological advancements. Although the ongoing tests show positive results, the aircraft maker aims to put ZeroE in full-scale commercial deployment by the late 2040s, dependent on easy worldwide availability of hydrogen fuel. Airbus initially planned to manufacture electric aircraft but shifted to hydrogen due to the environmental impact of lithium extraction needed for producing batteries. After years of stagnation, losses, and mine closures, HCL aims to triple ore production to 12.2 million tonnes annually by 2030. India holds only 0.2% of the global copper reserves. India’s copper demand grew 9.3% in FY25, reaching 1,878 kilotonnes, up from 1,718 kilotonnes in FY24, driven by data centres, electrification, and clean‑energy infrastructure. It plans to reopen long-shut mines in Jharkhand and extend leases. It will invest about ₹4,000 crore across key projects in Malanjkhand, Khetri, and Ghatsila. Outsourcing operations to private mine operators helped HCL improve efficiency, reduce workforce costs, and enable advanced technology adoption. The challenges HCL faces include declining ore grades, deep mining costs, and global supply disruptions. However, high copper prices and strategic partnerships, including a major MDO contract with JSW and an MoU with Chile’s CODELCO, have strengthened HCL’s turnaround. The company specialises in logistics solutions and employs more than 150 people across 15 countries. Le gouvernement indien dirigé par Narendra Modi a approuvé mercredi la mission Chandrayaan-4, qui vise à mettre en place les capacités technologiques de base pour faire atterrir un Indien sur la lune d’ici à 2040. L’Inde a pour objectif d’amener le sol lunaire d’ici 2027. Le point culminant de la mission est le retour de la sonde sur terre, ce qui n’a pas été réalisé avec Chandrayaan-3. L’Organisation indienne de recherche spatiale (ISRO) assurera la gestion et le suivi de la mission. La mission coûtera ₹2 104.06 crore (253 millions de dollars) et devrait être achevée dans les 36 mois suivant l’approbation du gouvernement. Le coût couvrira le développement et la réalisation de l’engin spatial, deux missions du lanceur LVM3, l’appui au réseau externe de l’espace lointain et d’essais spéciaux pour la validation e la conception.
