MSV Haji Ali , registered in Gujarat’s Salaya Port, was struck near Limah around 3:30 am by a suspected drone or missile while sailing from Berbera (Somalia) to Sharjah. It triggered a massive explosion and a fire that destabilised it, causing it to sink. All 14 Indian crew members, including a tandel (second-in-command), managed to send a distress signal and evacuate into lifeboats before being rescued by the Oman Coast Guard and taken safely to Deeba port. The incident has intensified concerns over maritime security amid rising tensions linked to the Iran–US conflict in the Strait of Hormuz. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs called the attack “unacceptable,” stressing that civilian mariners and commercial shipping must not be targeted. • Merchant fees on UPI, RuPay debit cards may return | Salestors.com

< Back Merchant fees on UPI, RuPay debit cards may return 12 Mar 2025 Banks submitted a formal proposal to the government to reintroduce the charges. UPI and RuPay transactions are controlled by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). Merchants pay the MDRs to banks for real-time payment processing. Before 2022, merchants had to pay banks a discount rate below 1% of the transaction value. It was removed in the FY2022 budget to promote digital payments, and it worked as UPI became the most widely used payment mode. The government is considering introducing a tiered pricing mechanism to charge the fee only to large businesses with annual GST turnover over ₹40 lakhs. The fee will be lower for smaller merchants, and free for those with a yearly turnover of less than ₹40 lakhs. Big retail businesses mostly use credit and debit cards for over half of their payments and pay MDR for the transactions. A minor fee on UPI payments would not have any significant impact. MDR can help payment aggregators make their businesses profitable. Never miss another post from SalestorrsNews150. Follow Salestorrs on WhatsApp , LinkedIn , Facebook , X , and Instagram . • India to manage Iran’s Chabahar Port for 10 years | Salestors.com

< Back India to manage Iran’s Chabahar Port for 10 years 13 May 2024 This port is India’s direct link to Afghanistan, Central Asia, and Eurasia. Chabahar will connect to the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC), which links India, Iran, and Russia. In a critical geopolitical move, India and Iran signed an agreement to manage Chabahar Port for ten years. The discussions were triggered last August during the BRICS Summit. This is the first time India will manage an overseas port. This port will link India and Russia via Iran, allowing India to bypass Pakistan and directly access Afghanistan and Central Asia. The new agreement will replace the original contract and automatically extend after ten years. The original contract covered only the operations at Chabahar’s Shahid Beheshti terminal and renews every year. It was developed under a tripartite agreement signed between India, Iran, and Afghanistan in May 2016. Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan wanted to use Chabahar to access the Indian Ocean Region. Pakistan also tried to convince Central Asian states to use Karachi Port to access the Indian Market, but India indicated that Chabahar would be a better option. Previous Next
