  • Microsoft, OpenAI alliance receives clearance from UK | Salestors.com

< Back Microsoft, OpenAI alliance receives clearance from UK 7 Mar 2025 UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) said this alliance does not need an antitrust investigation under merger rules. In 2016, OpenAI committed to using Microsoft Azure as the primary cloud service. In 2019, after OpenAI converted from a non-profit to a hybrid model, Microsoft invested $1 billion. In 2023, Microsoft invested $10 billion, bringing the total to $13 billion. These investments allowed Microsoft to integrate OpenAI’s products with its own. Microsoft may garner 75% of OpenAI's profits as a return on investment along with a 49% stake in the company. In 2023, CMA ordered an investigation to check if the alliance gave either of the firms a stronger hold and influence over the other. After 14 months of scrutiny, the competition authority approved the association. Microsoft faced antitrust issues in the UK and the US after its initial investment in 2019 and the boardroom battle of 2023 that led to the ousting and reinstatement of Sam Altman. • Self-declaration for ads mandated only for food and health sectors | Salestors.com

< Back Self-declaration for ads mandated only for food and health sectors 5 Jul 2024 The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) eased the earlier rule and made it mandatory only for the food and health sectors. However, there is another Supreme Court hearing on July 9th on this matter. The Supreme Court of India passed an order on May 7th mandating all advertising bodies to issue a Self Declaration Certificate (SDC) for all ads on TV, radio, print, or the internet broadcasted after June 18th. The idea was to crack down on misleading advertising. Following an uproar and multiple meetings with various industry bodies, MIB issued a fresh directive on July 3rd. Now, the SDC must be issued only for food and health-related ads. Food and health products and services providers will need to manually upload an annual SDC on the Press Council of India website for print and internet ads and the Broadcast Seva website for TV and radio ads. Proof of uploading will need to be submitted to the concerned media stakeholders, like newspapers and TV channels, for record keeping. This fresh order relieves media houses from the responsibility of checking and validating the SDCs. Previous Next
