Çelebi hired top lawyer Mukul Rohatgi and moved the Delhi High Court against revoking its security clearance. However, the concession agreement with GMR’s Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) states that “DIAL may terminate the contract immediately on grounds of national security or following orders from relevant authorities”, ET reported. Relevant authorities include the Indian Government, the authorities appointed publicly, and AAI. It also states that “if the concession ends on national security grounds, the Concessionaire may remove its equipment at its own cost, with no further payments required from DIAL.” The agreement mandates that all disputes be resolved under Indian Law and only in Delhi courts. GMR battled a similar dispute in 2012 when the Maldives government abruptly terminated their airport project because President Mohamed Waheed supported China. GMR won $270 million in damages. Ils prévoient un chiffre d’affaires combiné de 191 milliards de dollars et un bénéfice d’exploitation de plus de 19 milliards de dollars. Le groupe Mitsubishi a été invité à participer aux négociations et soumettre sa réponse d’ici janvier 2025. La nouvelle société formée par ces trois entreprises pourrait valoir 50 milliards de dollars. Nissan est en crise depuis que son ancien président Carlos Ghosn a renoncé à sa caution au Japon et s’est réfugié au Liban en 2019. Il a été s’accusé de mauvaise conduite financière. Nissan prévoit une réduction de 20 % de sa capacite de production mondiale et 9 000 licenciements en raison de la baisse des ventes en Chine et aux États-Unis. < Back RoDTEP benefits for exported products extended till Sept 2025 1 Oct 2024 The existing rate of refund varied from 0.5% to 4.3% of the product value. The new rates will range from 0.3% to 3.9%. The Centre introduced Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products (RoDTEP) in January 2021 for the period ending September 30th, 2024. It has now been extended until September 30th, 2025, for exports made from Domestic Tariff Area (DTA) units. The Directorate General of Foreign Trade notified that the scheme has been extended until December 31st, 2024, for Export-Oriented Units, Special Economic Zones, and Advance Authorisation holders. The RoDTEP offers a refund of duties, taxes, and any other cesses levies incurred by exporters during the manufacture or distribution of goods. These taxes and duties are not reimbursed under any other scheme at the central, state, or local levels. The revised rates will be implemented effective October 10th and will take effect once the Indian Customs Electronics Gateway (ICEGATE) portal is updated with them. < Back 22 years later, Veer Savarkar Airport welcomes 1st int’l flight 19 Nov 2024 Air Asia’s inaugural international flight from Malaysia landed at Veer Savarkar International Airport, Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The airport, just 2 kilometres from Port Blair, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, was given international status in 2002. Twenty-two years later, it welcomed its first international flight from Malaysia, Air Asia’s inaugural AK 55. Starting November 16th until October 25th, 2025, Air Asia kicked off three flights weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The Airports Authority of India upgraded the Veer Savarkar Airport to grade II from III earlier this year, thus granting it more autonomy and administrative prowess for development. The airport inaugurated a new state-of-the-art terminal on July 18, 2023, well-equipped to handle 5 million passengers every year. It has three levels for arrivals, departures, and waiting lounges. With 28 check-in counters, three aerobridges, and four conveyor belts, the terminal can accommodate 1200 passengers during peak hours. Reliance Power and Reliance Infrastructure reduced their debt and gained ₹17,600 crore from investors to become debt-free. Authum Infrastructure became Reliance Infrastructure’s largest public shareholder with a 10.89% stake. Reliance NU Energies secured 350 MW of solar capacity. Reliance NU Suntech signed a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) to establish Asia’s biggest integrated Solar and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) for ₹10,000 crore in partnership with the Solar Energy Corporation of India. Reliance Power tied up with the Bhutan Government’s investment arm, Druk Holding, to develop a 750 MW hydroelectric and a 500 MW solar project. A subsidiary of Reliance Infrastructure, Reliance Defence, has entered a strategic partnership with Rheinmetall, the German ammunition manufacturer, to supply propellants and explosives. Reliance Infrastructure is developing 1,000 acres of Dhirubhai Ambani Defence City (DADC) in Ratnagiri, Maharashtra, India’s biggest private-sector greenfield defence manufacturing hub. < Back Govt partners with SBI Cards, telecom to combat cyber fraud 23 Apr 2024 Indian Home Ministry joined hands with SBI Cards and telecom operators to detect stolen OTPs and issue timely alerts. The Home Ministry is testing a prospective solution to detect stolen One Time Passwords (OTPs) and timely alert the user. It has partnered with SBI Cards and Payment Services Limited and telecom providers to develop the solution. It will allow banks to track customers’ geolocation. Banks already have users’ registered addresses, and they can compare where the OTP was delivered. If the current location or registered address don't match the OTP's delivery address, they will issue an immediate alert to the user, or block the OTP. An Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (i4C) report mentions crimes originating in China, Myanmar, and Cambodia siphoned off ₹10,319 crore between 2021-2023. Criminals mislead customers to share the OTPs or reroute them to themselves. Citizen Financial Cyber Fraud Reporting and Management System, created under i4C, prevented fraudulent transfers worth around ₹1,200 crore from over 470,000 complaints received till February this year. Le ministère des affaires étrangères a annoncé la mise en place de l’autorisation de voyage électronique (ETA) afin de simplifier l’immigration et de mieux gérer l’afflux de ressortissants étrangers dans le pays. La Thaïlande a récemment élargi l’exemption de visa à plus des pays en juillet, ce qui porte le total à 93. Les seules exceptions sont le Cambodge, le Malaisie et le Laos. Le gouvernement prévoit de combiner le nouveau système avec la procédure existante de visa électronique d’ici juin 2025. Il permettra les voyageurs soumettre une seule demande pour se rendre dans le pays d’Asie du Sud. L’ETA permet une entrée unique en Thaïlande. Elle sera valable 60 jours, avec une possibilité de prolongation de 30 jours. Les demandes doivent être soumises à une nouvelle plateforme en ligne. Il n’y aura pas de frais de dossier. Elle a tenté de créer des fonds fiduciaires de plusieurs milliards de dollars pour indemniser les plaignants. A trois reprises, elle a tenté de recourir à la procédure de faillite par l’intermédiaire de ses filiales, plus récemment Red River Talc LLC. La filiale se mettait en faillite. Le fond fiduciaire indemniserait les plaignants et protègerait la société mère, J&J, de toute responsabilité directe. Un juge américain a refusé la demande, citant un processus de vote défectueux pour obtenir le soutien de 75 % des plaignants pour accepter le règlement et l’inéligibilité financière de l’entreprise a la faillite. Launched in 2010, the married duo of Brian Smith and Jackie Cuscuna raked in $1 million from their first store and $1.4 million from the second. Things were flying up until they signed the deal with Disney. To match the demand, they built an ice cream factory in Brooklyn’s expensive neighbourhood, the Red Hook. Too many borrowings, a $20 million loan to fund their expansion, and many wrong hires triggered their downfall. Their sales couldn’t help them break even. The Union Cabinet approved 12 smart cities, including Khurpia in Uttarakhand, Prayagraj and Agra in Uttar Pradesh, Rajpura-Patiala in Punjab, Jodhpur-Pali in Rajasthan, Dighi in Maharashtra, Palakkad in Kerala, Zaheerabad in Telangana, Kopparthy and Orvakal in Andhra Pradesh, and Gaya in Bihar. Each smart city will serve a specific industry and be constructed in around three years, with contractor onboarding scheduled for March 2025. They will span ten states and six significant industrial corridors. They will offer coexisting residential and commercial setups with plug-and-play infrastructure, 24x7 electricity, portable drinking water, and amenities to facilitate the walk-to-work concept. Palakkad may build infrastructure for medicines and botanicals, Agra for Electronics System Design and Manufacturing and EVs, Gaya for light engineering, food processing, and metal industries, Bidkin for automotive and Dighi and Krishnapatnam for port-led industrialisation promoting ecotourism. Venezuelan opposition figure María Corina Machado symbolically presented Donald Trump with a Nobel Peace Prize medal during a private meeting. Trump has backed the opposition’s claim of victory in the country’s disputed election, and criticised Machado, saying she lacked the “respect” required to lead Venezuela. Despite this, Machado described their meeting positively, emphasising that Venezuelans are counting on Trump to help restore democracy. Trump had earlier clarified that he would work not with Machado but with Delcy Rodríguez—Nicolás Maduro’s vice president and later interim president—warning that she could face force if she failed to meet U.S. demands, including those benefiting American oil interests. Previously, Trump had expressed his frustration at not receiving the Nobel Peace Prize directly. The Nobel Prize committee clarified that the honour cannot be revoked, shared, or transferred to others. The recipient’s name ‘stands for all time’ even as the physical medal changes hands.
