These Indian developers are partnering with international hotel brands, including Leela Palaces Hotels and Resorts, Hyatt, Four Seasons, JW Marriott, Hilton, Novotel, and The Ascott Limited, to cater to this market. The serviced apartments segment has been expanding at 12.7% globally, and at a similar rate in India, ET reported. Serviced apartments offer attractive rental yields, long-term ROI and capital appreciation. In Goa, serviced apartments offer a rental yield of 8-15%. This city has 35% of India’s second-home buyers. Serviced residences' prices have escalated by 2.6 times, from ₹4,000 per sqft in 2019 to ₹10,300 per sqft in 2025. < Back Delhi skies may witness air taxis by 2026 20 Apr 2024 Archer Aviation plans to launch air taxis to cover the distance between Connaught Place, Delhi, and Gurugram in seven minutes for ₹3,000. Besides the US and UAE, Archer Aviation plans to launch air taxis in India by 2026. It partnered with InterGlobe Enterprises, the owner of IndiGo Airlines, and intends to replicate its model of achieving economies of scale with higher trip volumes and lower costs. Its air taxis, or electric Vertical Take-off and Landing (eVTOL) can take off and land vertically unlike helicopters. Moreover, being electric, it produces lesser emissions and noise. A way-way trip between Connaught Place and Gurugram will take seven minutes and is expected to cost ₹3,000, that is five times a cab ride. It will launch the service in Mumbai and Bengaluru after Delhi-Gurugram. Archer Aviation is in discussions with Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to secure permissions. DGCA is formulating a policy specifically for urban air mobility, which differs from drone transport. Archer Aviation tied up with Honeywell, Safran, and Garmin for component supply. Previous Next

< Back Road Ministry planning centralised hubs for all transportation modes 21 Aug 2024 The ministry aims to develop integrated public transport and terminals across India, combining road, rail, air, water, helipads, and ropeway modes of transport. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is actively working on its One Nation, One Location initiative to integrate all modes of transport for speedier freight and passenger movement. National Highways Logistics Management, National Highways Authority of India’s fully owned subsidiary, will develop two pilot hubs in Tirupati and Katra within two years, followed by Nagpur and Varanasi. It will reduce passengers' navigation challenges due to a fragmented transportation system, including local public transport. An integrated system will minimise transit time, facilitate smooth transfers between different transport modes, and offer amenities like parking spots, hotels, and retail outlets. Integration will happen using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and data analytics. The government is encouraging Public-Private Partnerships for this project. The hubs will be a one-stop solution for 87% of the passenger traffic using road transport in India. The development of city centres will further reduce city congestion and boost economic activity. The driver loses money if the customer's address doesn’t exist or the order is cancelled. Bom hang , or fraud orders for the most popular COD mode of online payment is the biggest nightmare for drivers in Vietnam. This market faces up to 15% of failed deliveries. Bogus addresses, last-minute cancellations, or unreachable customers cause drivers to lose money on delivery fees, money they pay to restaurants for food pickup, and transportation charges incurred for the delivery. Companies like Shopee, Be, and Grab have reimbursement policies, but drivers find them cumbersome and time-consuming. Most ask drivers to bring the undelivered food to their office, which costs them extra. These platforms allow drivers to mention the maximum amount they can risk on a COD order. A horde of scammers has emerged that use fake numbers and addresses to trick drivers into paying for bogus orders. Drivers warn each other through Facebook groups by blacklisting addresses and numbers, but it is not always effective. Previous Next

< Back Govt to verify air purifier claims; mandates environmental claims disclosure 16 Oct 2024 The Indian government rolled out new guidelines to control greenwashing and deceptive environmental claims. After Union Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi accused air purifier manufacturers of false claims about their products, the Indian government announced its plans to conduct market surveillance to evaluate the performance of these products against the company claims. Bureau of Indian Standards will examine their performance with existing air filter quality control orders. The Centre has introduced fresh guidelines to identify greenwashing and false eco-friendly claims by companies. All claims like ‘100% recyclable’ and ‘net zero emissions’ must be accompanied by verifiable evidence, independent research, and third-party verification. All material details must be accessible to the end user through QR codes and URLs. The guidelines also mandate companies to use consumer-friendly language explaining the sustainability or eco-friendliness of the product and whether the claim is about the product, its manufacturing process, packaging, or disposal. The Consumer Affairs Ministry’s decision will be final in case of ambiguity or dispute. Previous Next

< Back Jio Financial Services becomes Core Investment Company after RBI nod 17 Jul 2024 Jio received approval from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to transition from a Non-Banking Financial Corporation (NBFC) to a Core Investment Company (CIC). After its demerger from Reliance Industries’ financial division and a change in its shareholder pattern, RBI directed Jio Financial Services (JFS) to convert into a CIC. JFS then filed an application with RBI to become an independent investment entity. A Core Investment Company (CIC) owns assets exceeding ₹100 crore, and at least 90% of them must be invested in debentures, bonds, debt, or loans extended to group firms, equity and preference shares. A CIC deals mainly in the acquisition of shares and securities. This transition will change JFS’s operational structure. As a CIC, it will become more compliant with regulatory frameworks and have a streamlined organisational structure. JFS can now act as a diversified financial services arm and support Reliance Industries’ business ventures. This will allow JFS to allocate capital to its subsidiaries efficiently. These companies spend heavily on digital ads, freebies for new users, geographical expansion, and opening and maintaining dark stores. While Monthly Transacting Users (MTUs) steadily grow, the order frequencies and average order value (AOV) drive revenues. Blinkit almost doubled its MTUs to 10.6 million in the October-December 2024 quarter, and last month, it posted an EBITDA loss of ₹109 crore. Aap Ka Bazar, a new regional q-commerce startup, launched four stores in Dwarka, Delhi. It offers offline retail, q-commerce, and an online platform, offering deliveries across 80 pin codes in NCR. Haldiram’s Snacks Food is selling 15-20% of stake in the Indian snacking giant and suitors are queuing up. One interested group is led by Bain Capital, partnered by Temasek, and the other is led by Blackstone, Singaporean GIC, and Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA). With the stake sale, Haldiram’s promoter group is hoping to receive the public market premium of ₹93,500 crore ($11 billion), while the family is vying to get at least a $10 billion valuation from the investors. With Blackstone and Bain leading the initial talks, the company would have had to sell off up to 76% of its stake. The company is now considering selling a minority stake in the combined operations of their Nagpur and Delhi factions. After the deal, Delhi will hold a 56% stake while Nagpur will have 44%.
