- India no longer the cheapest mobile tariff nation | Salestors.com
< Back India no longer the cheapest mobile tariff nation 4 Nov 2025 An ICICI Securities report stated that Bangladesh and Egypt now offer cheaper tariff plans. In recent years, India has improved its affordability rankings for mobile tariffs. However, it still offers one of the most generous allowances, especially for voice services. According to the report, Indian telecom companies offer up to 26 GB of extra data at a rate of ₹4 per GB, making it one of the most affordable data offerings globally. Besides India, Indonesia is the only other nation with such low rates. Compared to China, India offers base plans that are 21% cheaper, with higher service allowances for voice and data usage. The average revenue per user (ARPU) based on consumer spending for Indian telecom companies has increased by 13.5% from 2019 to 2025. The report suggested that this hike is faster than inflation and, therefore, not sustainable in the long term. In the past decade, the ARPU grew at a CAGR of 3.4%, much below the inflation rate. - Starlink launches satellite internet in 9 stations across India | Salestors.com
< Back Starlink launches satellite internet in 9 stations across India 24 Oct 2025 Noida, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Lucknow, and Hyderabad are among the first cities to receive internet access. Starlink will establish gateway earth stations in 9 Indian cities to launch its satellite internet services. It applied for 600 Gbps capacity via its Gen 1 satellite constellation. The Department of Telecommunications provisionally assigned spectrum to Starlink for service demos. It hasn’t yet been granted the license for commercial operations. Only Indian nationals will initially be given access to operate the gateway stations. The demo data will be stored in India, and fortnightly reports will be submitted to DoT and security agencies. Starlink terminals in Manipur and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands were previously misused, prompting the government to be more cautious about its rollout. Once cleared, its commercial services will offer broadband via Low Earth Orbit Satellites, covering remote locations across India. If TRAI finalises the pricing this year, Starlink will be able to begin services by early 2026. Check out my new book, THE BLACK FLAMES , on Amazon Kindle. Indian indices fell by around 5%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng by 12%, Japan’s Nikkei 225 by 8%, Taiwan's Taiex by 9.8%, China's CSI 300 by 8.08%, Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 by 4.4%, South Korea's Kospi by over 5%, and Shanghai’s SSE Composite index dropped by 8%.
Previous Next
- ChatGPT’s Sora: The text-to-video conversion AI tool | Salestors.com
< Back ChatGPT’s Sora: The text-to-video conversion AI tool 26 Feb 2024 Sora uses your texts to understand your video requirements. It can create videos of varying lengths, sizes, and shapes. OpenAI launched a text-to-video generator, Sora, in early February. It uses a diffusion model to break down your text input and create a video. It can generate complex scenes with multiple characters, varied backgrounds, and motions. The tool shows an advanced understanding of how things exist naturally and their physical behaviour. It can also understand human language and create characters showing specified emotions. Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, invited several social media professionals to try out the new app, and the responses were ecstatic. The videos seemed real-life-like. But this also raised several issues about the societal implications of this technology. Currently, Sora is mainly available for Red Teamers, the cybersecurity professionals who act as enemies to assess the associated risks. Many designers, filmmakers, and visual artists are also given access to try out Sora. Meta and Google are working on similar tools. Previous Next
- New law to impact Indian firms offering AI products to the European Union | Salestors.com
< Back New law to impact Indian firms offering AI products to the European Union 31 May 2024 Last week, the Council of the European Union approved the world’s first law regulating AI development, the European Union Artificial Intelligence Act. The EU’s new AI Act, expected to come into effect by June end, will raise compliance expectations and associated costs for Indian firms selling AI systems in Europe. Companies will have six months to conduct a risk assessment to ascertain the category of their AI systems and prepare for compliance. While the generic AI applications will get a year to comply, the high-risk systems must fully comply within three years. The Act will ban any AI applications posing unacceptable threats within six months of implementation. Indian SMEs offering AI products to the EU market at reasonable rates are worried about losing their competitive edge. Becoming and staying compliant will demand excessive costs and administrative resources. Non-compliance can attract penalties of up to €1,50,00,000 or 3% of the turnover. The new Indian government may pass the Digital India Act, replacing the twenty-five-year-old IT Act. It may also regulate AI. Previous Next
