- Delhi, Mumbai airports may hike user fee up to 22X | Salestors.com
< Back Delhi, Mumbai airports may hike user fee up to 22X 1 Dec 2025 The Airports Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA) and airlines have challenged the order in the Supreme Court. The Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) redefined tariff calculations for FY09-14, revealing that around ₹50,000 crore is owed to the Mumbai and Delhi airports. If this goes through, for Delhi airport, the User Development Fee levied per passenger may increase from ₹129 to ₹1,261 for domestic travellers and ₹6,356 from ₹650 for international. For Mumbai, domestic travellers may have to pay ₹3,856 from ₹175 and ₹13,495 instead of ₹615 for international travellers. AERA sets airport charges for 5-year slots depending on investments made and the revenue earned by the operator. AERA was established in 2009, three years after ownership passed from the Airports Authority of India to DIAL and MIAL. For FY09-14, AERA fixed the charges based on the value of its aeronautical assets, such as infrastructure used for flight operations and passenger processing. DIAL and MIAL approached TDSAT, arguing that AERA must also consider the value of non-aeronautical assets. Check out my new book, THE BLACK FLAMES , on Amazon Kindle. < Back US Department of Justice launches antitrust probes against NVIDIA 7 Aug 2024 In the first probe, the Department of Justice (DOJ) will scrutinise NVIDIA's buyout of Run:ai, and the second probe will evaluate if it abuses its dominant position in AI Chips. In July, US, UK, and EU regulators pledged to “safeguard against tactics that would undermine fair competition” in the AI world. Since then, international regulators have been closely monitoring significant tech acquisitions. That’s why NVIDIA’s $700 million acquisition of the Israeli GPU management startup Run:ai caught the attention of the US regulator. The DOJ is also evaluating NVIDIA’s global dominance in the AI chips market. After receiving several anti-competitive complaints, the regulator is assessing whether NVIDIA misuses its dominance to discourage customers from using its competitors’ products. There have been claims that the AI chip maker overcharges customers for networking equipment if they buy AI chips from its competitors, like AMD and Intel. It may also face French antitrust charges for anti-competitive practices. NVIDIA owns 70 to 95% of the market for chips used to train AI models. In June, it briefly overtook Microsoft as the world’s most valuable company. Previous Next

- Leading AI companies fail on Safety Index | Salestors.com
< Back Leading AI companies fail on Safety Index 17 Dec 2024 Five of the six top AI makers got Ds and Fs in the latest Future of Life Institute (FLI) report. In FLI’s latest Safety Report, Google DeepMind and OpenAI got a D+, Zhipu AI got a D, while x.AI got a D-. Meta failed, while Anthropic was the only survivor with a C. An independent panel of seven AI and governance specialists assessed the safety practices of these six AI companies across six parameters – Risk Assessment, Current Harms, Safety Frameworks, Existential Safety Strategy, Governance and Accountability, and Transparency and Communication. Findings revealed that only a few companies have established adequate safety frameworks and done risk assessments. All flagship models are vulnerable to attacks, and all artificial general intelligence (AGI) models are far from safe or under human control. Companies often cut corners on safety parameters to succumb to profiteering. FLI was founded by MIT cosmologist Max Tegmark, Skype co-founder Jaan Tallinn, and others in March 2014. Anthropic’s existing structure and OpenAI’s initial governance structure were deemed promising. Previous Next
