- Leading AI companies fail on Safety Index | Salestors.com
< Back Leading AI companies fail on Safety Index 17 Dec 2024 Five of the six top AI makers got Ds and Fs in the latest Future of Life Institute (FLI) report. In FLI’s latest Safety Report, Google DeepMind and OpenAI got a D+, Zhipu AI got a D, while x.AI got a D-. Meta failed, while Anthropic was the only survivor with a C. An independent panel of seven AI and governance specialists assessed the safety practices of these six AI companies across six parameters – Risk Assessment, Current Harms, Safety Frameworks, Existential Safety Strategy, Governance and Accountability, and Transparency and Communication. Findings revealed that only a few companies have established adequate safety frameworks and done risk assessments. All flagship models are vulnerable to attacks, and all artificial general intelligence (AGI) models are far from safe or under human control. Companies often cut corners on safety parameters to succumb to profiteering. FLI was founded by MIT cosmologist Max Tegmark, Skype co-founder Jaan Tallinn, and others in March 2014. Anthropic’s existing structure and OpenAI’s initial governance structure were deemed promising. Previous Next
- Market manipulation or negotiation? The reason for Trump’s tariff reversal | Salestors.com
< Back Market manipulation or negotiation? The reason for Trump’s tariff reversal 10 Apr 2025 Trump announced a 90-day pause on tariffs for 75 nations that reached out to negotiate tariff deals. After the global market crash, several trade allies queued up to negotiate better deals with the US. In return, President Donald Trump paused their tariffs for 90 days for 75 nations. They will now face just the baseline 10% tariffs. On April 9th, Trump asked the global investors to “be cool” and declared that“this is a great time to buy”. Later, he announced the tariff pause, inciting mixed reactions. After the announcement, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said it was always part of the plan. As global stock markets rebound, Trump hiked tariffs on China to 125% as a punishment for retaliation, but he remains open to a deal. For Canada and Mexico, the Fentanyl and non-USMCA (US- Mexico- Canada Trade Agreement) tariffs remain intact at 25%. India, the only country to pursue negotiations since the beginning of the Trump administration, will face the baseline 10% tariffs. Never miss another post from SalestorrsNews150. Previous Next

- Foxconn to start assembling iPads in Tamil Nadu Plant | Salestors.com
< Back Foxconn to start assembling iPads in Tamil Nadu Plant 26 Jul 2024 Its experience assembling iPhones in the Tamil Nadu plant has been encouraging, and now Foxconn plans to use the facility to assemble iPads. Foxconn, a Taiwanese contract manufacturer of Apple products, plans to start assembling iPads in its Sriperumbudur plant in Tamil Nadu. iPad assembly requirements are similar to those of an iPhone, unlike a MacBook, which is a completely different ballgame. Foxconn has already had discussions with the Indian government. They’ve had a good experience so far and will likely double their production in the next few years to expand their portfolio to a few other products. Foxconn is trying to neutralise supply chain risks by relying on production facilities across different regions. Foxconn assembles MacBooks in Vietnam, which logs up to 10% of iPad production globally. Foxconn plans to leverage the production-linked incentives (PLI 2.0) for IT hardware, including tablets, offered by the Indian government. It may soon begin manufacturing AI servers at the Sriperumbudur plant and is in discussions with Google for manufacturing Pixel smartphones in the same facility. Previous Next
- Twitter CEO Dorsey launches messaging app Bitchat | Salestors.com
< Back Twitter CEO Dorsey launches messaging app Bitchat 10 Jul 2025 It is a decentralised, peer-to-peer communication app that operates exclusively on Bluetooth mesh networks, without the need for the internet. Twitter Founder Jack Dorsey’s latest product, Bitchat, is in the beta testing phase currently, with a live version available on TestFlight. The app does not need central servers, mobile numbers, email IDs or personal account creation to function. It facilitates encrypted messaging between nearby devices that form local Bluetooth clusters when users move around physically. These clusters direct the flow of messages between devices, enabling communication with users beyond a specific physical range, without relying on Wi-Fi or cellular service. ‘Bridge’ devices can connect overlapping clusters and expand the Bluetooth mesh over larger distances. Messages are relayed across devices, thus crossing a normal Bluetooth range. Messages are stored on devices and are deleted by default, without being sent to a central server, thus ensuring privacy. Users can create password-protected group chats, called Rooms, named using hashtags. Dorsey plans to add WiFi Direct for faster messaging in a future update. Speaking at a CII event, Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) Chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch mentioned that Aditya Birla Sun Life Mutual Fund will soon introduce ₹250 mutual funds in India.
