< Back Hero MotorCorp planning to debut in the electric 3-wheeler market 5 Sept 2024 Hero is hosting advanced talks with Altigreen Propulsion Labs, an 11-year-old Bengaluru-based manufacturer of electric three-wheelers. With all its competitors, Mahindra & Mahindra, TVS Motor and Bajaj Auto, present in the three-wheeler segment, Hero MotorCorp is planning a debut in the market. It is in the advanced level of discussions to invest ₹900 crore in Altigreen Propulsion Labs to manufacture electric three-wheelers (E3Ws). The discussions have been ongoing for around nine months. Altigreen’s electric three-wheelers are used by e-commerce companies for last-mile deliveries of vegetables, gas cylinders, poultry, and dairy products. Since its launch in 2020, Altigreen has sold 5,000 units. Bajaj Auto sells 3,500 vehicles per month, and Mahindra sells 7,000 vehicles per month. It is now working on an electric four-wheeler. If the deal goes through, it will be Hero Group's second-largest investment in the EV segment after electric two-wheeler manufacturer Ather Energy, where it holds a 40% stake. In June, Hero invested ₹124 crore to buy an additional 2.2% stake in Ather Energy. Previous Next
- US Federal Trade Commission sues Meta for buying out competition | Salestors.com
< Back US Federal Trade Commission sues Meta for buying out competition 15 Apr 2025 The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) filed an antitrust suit against Meta for buying Instagram and WhatsApp to avoid competition. The antitrust trial against Meta started on April 14th. The US FTC alleges that Meta unlawfully monopolised the social media market. FTC produced an email from Mark Zuckerberg dating back to 2012 confirming his intentions to buy Instagram to “neutralize a competitor” and his concerns about Facebook Camera lagging behind Instagram. Zuckerberg admitted to the genuineness of these emails but clarified that they were being portrayed out of context. Meta alleges it still competes with YouTube, TikTok, SnapChat, and Apple’s iMessage. FTC argued that users don’t have other meaningful alternatives to Meta. If the FTC wins, Meta could be forced to sell Instagram and WhatsApp. Experts estimate Instagram, Meta’s major ad revenue generator, could produce $37 billion in ad revenue in 2025. This case was filed during President Trump’s first term. Meta donated $1 million to his inauguration this year and is trying to persuade Trump to settle the lawsuit. - EU’s Sustainable Products Regulation to hurt Indian exports | Salestors.com
< Back EU’s Sustainable Products Regulation to hurt Indian exports 24 Jun 2024 Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) mandates stringent sustainability checks for imported products. This is bound to impact Indian exports to Europe significantly. The European Union recently passed a new regulation, the ESPR, to monitor the sustainability of imported products. It also mandates a Digital Product Passport for easier traceability of items. It will come into effect in January 2026 and begin monitoring items like textiles, mattresses, furniture, iron and steel, tyres, paints, detergents, and lubricants. By 2030, it will cover all EU imports. Global research group Global Trade Research Initiative (GTRI) believes this initiative will hurt exports from various countries. These countries will have to change their production processes to meet the ESPR sustainability criteria, which can lead to higher production and compliance costs, thus reducing the pricing advantage Indian exporters enjoy. To be compliant, Indian firms must ascertain their products' environmental impact throughout their life cycle, ensure ESPR adoption in their processes, set up compliance policies and measures, and provide the necessary sustainability data for Digital product Passports. - Govt to verify air purifier claims; mandates environmental claims disclosure | Salestors.com
< Back Govt to verify air purifier claims; mandates environmental claims disclosure 16 Oct 2024 The Indian government rolled out new guidelines to control greenwashing and deceptive environmental claims. After Union Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi accused air purifier manufacturers of false claims about their products, the Indian government announced its plans to conduct market surveillance to evaluate the performance of these products against the company claims. Bureau of Indian Standards will examine their performance with existing air filter quality control orders. The Centre has introduced fresh guidelines to identify greenwashing and false eco-friendly claims by companies. All claims like ‘100% recyclable’ and ‘net zero emissions’ must be accompanied by verifiable evidence, independent research, and third-party verification. All material details must be accessible to the end user through QR codes and URLs. The guidelines also mandate companies to use consumer-friendly language explaining the sustainability or eco-friendliness of the product and whether the claim is about the product, its manufacturing process, packaging, or disposal. The Consumer Affairs Ministry’s decision will be final in case of ambiguity or dispute. Previous Next

- Iran’s new Bill withdraws cooperation with Int’l Atomic Energy Agency | Salestors.com
< Back Iran’s new Bill withdraws cooperation with Int’l Atomic Energy Agency 25 Jun 2025 On July 1st, 1968, Iran signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). It was ratified on March 5th, 1970. Following its ongoing war with Israel, Iran passed the bill that suspends any cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and withdraws from the NPT. This bill restricts the IAEA’s access to Iranian nuclear facilities for inspection. This move draws a curtain on international visibility into Iran’s nuclear activities. It could set a precedent for the others and trigger several geopolitical reactions, like sanctions from the US or the EU. Iran’s atomic isolation could make future negotiations challenging. At the same time, Iran has threatened to block the Strait of Hormuz, with its Parliament approving the measure. The final decision to physically close it rests with the Iranian Supreme National Security Council. This Strait allows 20% of the world’s oil and liquified natural gas to pass. In 2024, 84% of crude oil passed through the Strait of Hormuz to travel to India, Japan, South Korea, and China. Never miss another post from SalestorrsNews150.
